A little over a year ago .. (before we did P90X witch had a meal plan) my meals were planned around what starch or carbs we were going to have.. Pasta.. Rice.. Potato then I would choose the meat and veggies to complete the meal...
Then we did P90X and the meal plan was very through .. you calculated what level you would eat at based on your size and your fitness goals.. so the level basically was the amount of calories you would eat... it was 90 day... 3 months.. so also 3 phases to the diet..
1st phase.. fat loss... lots of meat veggies and fruit.. very little carbs(bread, rice, pasta)
2nd phase was introducing some complex carbs.. and 3rd was more carbs.. to really rev you up .. or something like that..
NOW I LOVED THE FOOD... it had a menu and recipes that were delicious. but there was so much work to do it all I was either preping food, cooking food, working or working out.. it was exhausting.
Then we found CROSSFIT! HIGH INTENSITY.. VARIED MOVEMENTS..
they talked about The Zone Diet. I was hearing great things about it.. I LOVED the info
about balancing your hormone levels.. that brought an AH HA moment to me on a deep level..
( I also believe that diabetes is one of the worst and tragic conditions anyone could have. and It breaks my heart that I lost my dad to this nasty disease)
the zone is all about blocks... blocks of protein and blocks of carbs and blocks of fat..
well I was kind of getting it.. but having a hard time keeping all the blocks balanced on my plate.
Then in Oct. I met this AWESOME woman and she was a huge fan of the Paleo Diet
it is SUPER SIMPLE.. eat Meat.. the leaner and cleaner the better.. as much as you want
eat.. veggies and fruit.. as much as you want.. who over eats on veggies??
and eat some nuts. (no more than 4oz a day if you have a goal to loose weight)
and its important to eat nuts and avocados.. you want those good fats.. in your body
SO NOW THIS IS HOW I PLAN MY MEALS....
First I pick my protein .. then what veggies or fruit I want to go with it.. SUPER EASY AND SUPER SIMPLE! We do eat lots of salads... like I will bake some chicken in the oven chop that up and put it in a salad... Viola
Oh.. I guess I should write a bit about the Paleo Diet and it is NO DAIRY NO BREAD NO SUGAR.. and for some reason.. I am TOTALLY fine without eating those things.. my daughter on the other hand.. not ready to give up the breads and the cheese..
For me ... I WAS OVER IT! I WAS OVER FEELING CRAPPY... I WAS OVER FEELING ENERGY CRASHES IN THE AFTERNOONS..
WHAT I DO KNOW IS... when I eat Paleo
I HAVE TONS OF ENERGY
I DON'T CRAVE BREADS, PASTA OR TREATS
I DON'T HAVE THAT AFTERNOON ENERGY CRASH!
IT IS AWESOME! ALSO I HAVE LOST 2 PANT SIZES SINCE OCT & THAT WAS WITH THE HOLIDAYS!
